Description:
Based out of our Santa Clara office, you will be responsible for supporting sales requests by carrying out application trials on samples from our US and international customers. Under the responsibility of the Applications Lab Manager, you will work with a variety of lasers in a laboratory environment in order to develop and validate diverse laser marking, cleaning and welding applications.
Responsibilities:
Develop new laser-based applications and solutions according to customer specifications and in close collaboration with the sales department
Perform application tests according to current standards and procedures
Deliver detailed test plans and study reports
Coordinate R&D tests and develop laser processes in collaboration with various departments
Provide follow-up support in disseminating technical information on specific applications
Improve procedures and working methods
Work safely in accordance with current OHSA regulations
Set up and conduct demos at clients' locations or virtually from California.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or technical degree in engineering physics or equivalent discipline
10 years of relevant experience working with lasers, optics or material processing (e.g., welding)
Competent in working with image and CAD files in programs like SolidWorks and MS Office
Working knowledge of tooling, fixturing and precision mechanical alignment is desirable
Previous experience interacting directly with customers in the sales/pre-sale stage desirable
Be autonomous, responsible and resourceful
Be strongly solution- and results-oriented
Be available for occasional trips abroad
Have a valid driver's license and passport
Title: APPLICATION ENGINEER

Description:
Our Application Engineer must have the ability to process a variety of materials with our UV DPSS Laser Marking System to customer specifications. You must be able to review and analyze previous performance results, then develop and execute a new series of experiments. Accurate documentation and presentation of test results is a must. Ability to communicate and provide guidance to other members, including sales team and engineering team is essential. You must be able to provide technical knowledge to customers and potential customers.
Responsibilities:
·Sample prep and data collection on a variety of materials, including but not limited to: ceramics, metals, glass, plastics and various composite materials
Research, collect and present information on process feasibility of sample materials per customer specifications
Design and perform complex and non-routine optical, electro-mechanical and process engineering tests to optimize laser system performance on sample materials to meet customer specifications
Apply accepted engineering principles and practices to achieve desired results in process development yield and quality of the test application to sample materials
Serve as a technical resource to Sales and Engineering personnel
Qualifications:
2-5 years experience in a laboratory environment (University experience applies)
Strong technical and analytical skills—ability to design and perform single-variable tests
Excellent documentation and communication skills—written and verbal
Experience with laboratory measurements of thermal, optical, electrical and mechanical materials
Basic trouble shooting of electrical, optical and mechanical systems is desirable
Solid knowledge of computer hardware and software; programming experience a plus
Self-motivated and accurate, with attention to detail in data collection
Four-year technical degree in Material Science, Physics, Engineering or similar
Strong customer-facing skills
Ability to travel

Our Automation Engineer is responsible for the design, integration and assembly of custom automation projects. You must be able to meet with the customer to determine their needs. You must be able to originate and refine machine concepts to provide the best solution per customer specification. You should have the ability to integrate with pre-existing hardware and software. Managing the purchasing, assembly, controls integration, acceptance testing, and installation of equipment is essential. Candidate should have a working knowledge of SolidWorks/AutoCAD and automation software programming for PLCs. This includes PLC Ladder logic, device configuration, communications configuration and integration of dissimilar devices.
Responsibilities:
Research components and devices for integration into equipment per the design specification
Design mechanical components as needed for fabrication
Source vendors/contractors for purchased and custom components
Manage out-sourced activities for completion and on-time delivery
Create new software and integrate existing software for system control
Perform FAT with final automated systems for customer approval
Create documentation for applications, including operations manuals user guides, etc.
Ability to travel
Qualifications:
B.S. Degree in Engineering with emphasis on Mechatronics
5+ years of experience in automation development, design and implementation
Design experience with SolidWorks
Strong technical knowledge of programming languages and hardware interfaces
Experience with PLC programming (Ladder Logic) and hardware (Allen-Bradley)
Experience with electro-mechanical design
Programming experience in C#, C++, or Visual Basic a plus
Exceptional organizational skills
